5)Performance based, individualised, specialist, support services

No ideas! Perhaps the squad members that lose a race should have to massage the legs of the winners....

There are many more components to becoming a successful elite athlete than just physical & technical training that we currently seem to focus on. Individualised support in terms of 1)psychology for race/competition preperation, this can lead into psychological techniques: imagery, appropriate arousal levels......
2)nutrition, not just a pre race meal, knowing what/when to eat.
3)career/life support: an athlete that has other aspects of their life than just sport, and so often when these other aspects are well balanced and under control, their sporting performance will follow. Being a coach is more than just telling someone how far to run and which technique to use.
4)alternative training methods incorporating elements of strength training/cross training/plyometrics
in order to maximise running ability.
nearly every successful athlete has become so with a large support network and their performance is just the end product of many peoples work.
